How to: Buy the correct Replacement Remote Control

Have you recently misplaced your remote control, or did your dog really eat the remote control? There are many reasons why you may be searching for a new replacement remote control for your Television, VCR, DVD or any other component that uses a remote control. Your facing a dilemma because you tired of getting up to change the channel and you've learned just how difficult Universal remote controls can be to use and try to figure out how to program. Below I've highlighted the steps that you can follow in order to find your component (TV, DVD, etc) model number and/or find ways through this method to find the remote control model number.

First off, you will not find one replacement remote control for your Sony Television for example, there are hundreds if not thousands of remote controls on the market, and it's not that easy to find the remote control your looking for, for your component.

The ultimate goal is to figure out your remote control model number. Once you know that number you can either call your manufacturer and see if they have any sources that they know of to purchase your remote control, or you can search for that model number directly into google and you should be able to find direct access to replacement remote sites that sell that exact remote control brand new. If you still have your remote, you probably will find the model number listed somewhere on the remote control. Either at the bottom, underneath the buttons, or you can sometimes find it by taking out the batteries and located the number there.

However sometimes you've lost the remote, so what are you supposed to do now? It's easy you can find the model number of the component you have been using that remote with. Usually again it's located in front near the button below the screen or most commonly you'll find it in the rear near where you hook up your cable or antenna. Once you have the tv, dvd, or whatever else device you own. You can search google with that model number or check out a site like www.electronicadventure.us or www.remotecontrolscenter.com that will have a giant listing of device model numbers and the remote model number associated with that remote.

Hopefully this resource has helped, if you are still confused, leave a comment and I will try my best to help out as many as I can!

Should you buy a Universal Remote?

Have you recently purchased a used DVD player to only find out that it doesn't have a remote control for that DVD Player? You might ask yourself, should I buy a Universal Remote Control or try and find a good used or even possibly a new replacement remote for the DVD Player? Your best bet is to find a new or used replacement remote control. There are sellers out there that have a large selection of brand new replacement remote controls, such as the Remote Controls Center. The problems with purchasing a Universal Remote for your DVD player is that they usually are difficult to program and after spending hours of programming the remote, or paying one of your more knowledgeable counterparts to do it for you, your left with only limited functionality. You will find yourself unable to use the full functionality of your DVD Player, TV, VCR or whatever other component you are trying to use through the Universal Remote. By far your best option is to go buy a replacement remote control online, and in the comfort of your own home, knowing that in a few days tops you can be using your DVD, TV, etc. at it's full functionality. If you are looking for a specific remote control model you can also comment this post, and I'll direct you to the correct remote to buy!
